While watching an interview with Paul Rahe, author of Soft Despotism, Democracy’s Drift, Paul made a really strange statement, in regard to the current political climate for conservative Americans:
“The political moment in which we live in is a moment of great great hope.”
And after watching what happened in the Mass. special election, it looks to be a prophetic statement indeed.
When Barack Obama was elected, I said to myself. “Self, maybe the people of America need a good shot in the arm of Socialism, in order to see that it is not the sugar and spice and everything nice and that the promises of today’s progressive liberals are hollow and meant only to deceive the free individual into giving up that freedom for some illusion of security.
Security in which Progressive liberals claim is a ‘right’ along with those enumerated in our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
The great hope that is Barack Obama’s Presidency is that the people of America will come to realize how much of a price they will be required to pay, both in treasure, in choice and in the luster of their future as an American; for some sort of security - real or fabricated.
For most American’s, myself included. The price is already becoming to high.
“Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security”
– Ben Franklin
