Liberal Politicians and Pundits constantly decry the ‘partisanship’ going on in Congress. Lets take a look at some of the recent bellyaching over people standing up for the founding principles of the United States of America.
Here is one from the Democrat Senator Sheldon Whitehouse.
To claim that Republican are ’stonewalling’ simply to discredit and ‘break’ the President has two traits I see all to much from Democratic demagogs; sophistry and hypocrisy.
The argument that Republicans are trying to stop the Health Care Bill because they want to discredit the President or be racist against him is ludicrous. It’s horrendous socialist, totalitarian legislation that would make our founding fathers take up arms screaming ‘liberty or death’ a second time. That is why they wish to block it Senator Sheldon.
Your hypocrisy knows bound as well. For eight years partisan democratic hack congressman did everything they could to belittle, discredit, demean and harangue President Bush. You cannot argue this bill on its real factual merits Senator Whitehouse; you are a disgrace as is your parties continued use of the race card at every opportunity.
Heres Queen Pelosi decrying $700 billion dollars during the Bush years.
If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought she was deriding the Obama administration. I’m sorry to have you suffer through 5 mins of that. She speaks out against bailouts and ‘czars’ and fiscal irresponsibility when its Republican’s doing it, but endorses car czars, safe school czars, pay czars (you get the idea), fascist policies towards private companies, taxes and $850billion stimuslush as do today or we die tomorrow when its President Obama signing on the dotted line. Who’s being partisan? I find it most difficult to refrain from profanities.
Here is a clueless little man named Bob from North Carolina.
This was back in 2006. I wonder what he would say if he went back and watched this again. ‘Republicans wont bring it to the floor unless they have a majority of the majority… which means you can’t have honest debate?’ Honest debate Bob? What would you have to say about bringing bills to the floor for VOTE, much less debate, before the bill is even written? Need I say Waxman-Malarkey climate bill? Or how about Harry Reid’s back room deals in creating the Senate Healthcare bill and payoff of ‘fence sitting’ senators to get enough votes? How bout Harry’s manifold renigs on 72 hrs to review bills/amendments? Honest debate Bob? President Obama himself spoke of a bill that never, ever, existed on paper.
I believe these three little bytes make the point well enough as to the sophistry and hypocrisy of democratic floor partisanship damnation.
I want Republican, conservative Republicans to be partisan if that’s what it takes to stop socialist legislation brought up for votes by this administration. At this moment I’m watching some guy get bent about the FISA act back from 2007 (he thinks Bush wants to listen in on his phone calls).
I wonder how he feels now with stimuslush and healthcare spending that’s bankrupting his grand children? I guess Obama bureaucrats telling him which doctor to go to and deciding if he can get whatever medical care he needs doesn’t bother him, but he will get paranoid about his right to call 900 numbers during the Bush Admin. Hey bro, its the Foreign Intel Surveillance Act, so your calls to Candy at 2am are safe. Anyway I digress.
I am happy to see the partisanship in Washington. It tells me that we still have some people there who believe in the Constitution enough to protect it with not just words but actions. Who will fight against transfers of wealth through socialist policies, who will defend the rights of private companies and business and believe in fair taxation for a limited government. They believe in Freedom OF, not Freedom FROM.
What do I mean by that? I want them to be partisan in defense of an American’s right to Freedom of responsibility. The freedom that comes from being responsible for your own well being and self interests. Liberals use freedom, as a Freedom from responsibility. You shouldn’t have to be responsible for your debt, your education, your choices or your actions. Do what you wanna; live it up – on the subsistence $400 a week will get you courtesy of your taxpaying neighbor.
There is a big difference between the partisanship of the left and the like actions on the right. Republican ‘partisanship’ and disagreement is based not only on ideology, but ideology backed by rational arguments of economics, individual rights, private property and constitutionality of legislation. Democratic partisanship is based on ideology too. The difference comes in the demagogic arguments based on race baiting, class envy, fear, misrepresented or simply untrue studies or statements, statements taken out of context, libel, and lies. When they do attempt to use facts they are easily demonstrated as misconstrued or even entirely psuedofactoid in nature.
Want an example?
nuff said. Oh and, Harry, it was democrats who supported the opinions you derided above.
Don’t accept the argument that politics today are anymore partisan than in the past. Some of the newspaper slander of political rivals easily holds it’s ground to the televised broadsides of today. Partisanship comes from both sides. The debate on it, the examination of it, the judgment of it should not be about whether it should exist; but how the sides choose to engage in it.
